How do I see my YouTube analytics, and other channels’ numbers?

Short answer

Sign in to YouTube Studio and choose Analytics in the left menu for the whole channel. For one video, choose Content, point to the video and choose Analytics. The tabs are Overview, Content, Reach, Engagement, Audience, Revenue (Partner Program members) and Trends. For someone else’s channel YouTube shows only the public numbers, such as a rounded subscriber count and views. Their Studio analytics stay theirs, unless they share insights.

Open YouTube Analytics

From YouTube’s Get started page:

  • For the whole channel: sign in to YouTube Studio, then choose Analytics in the left menu.
  • For one video: sign in to YouTube Studio, choose Content in the left menu, point to the video and choose Analytics.

YouTube notes that from July 2026 an updated YouTube Studio is rolling out gradually, so your Analytics page may look different from the screenshots you find elsewhere.

The tabs

TabLevelWhat it shows

EngagementVideoWatch time, average view duration and engaged views, plus audience retention
AudienceChannel or videoMonthly audience, subscribers, and new, casual and regular viewers
RevenueChannel or videoEstimated revenue, for YouTube Partner Program members
TrendsChannelWhat viewers across YouTube are searching for

YouTube adds that some data, such as geography, traffic sources or gender, may be limited. Some reports may not be available on mobile.

The metrics, as YouTube words them

From the Reach and Engagement pages:

  • Impressions: how many times your thumbnails were shown to viewers on YouTube, through registered thumbnail impressions.
  • Impressions click-through rate: how often viewers watched a video after seeing a thumbnail.
  • Views: the number of legitimate views, counted the moment a video starts to play, in every format: Shorts, long videos and live streams.
  • Unique viewers: an estimate of the viewers who watched within the date range, calculated from engaged views and their watch time.
  • Watch time: the time viewers have watched, in hours.
  • Average view duration: the average minutes watched among those who stayed to watch.

What changed: YouTube’s page on how engagement metrics are counted says that from 24 August 2026 views are counted the moment a video starts to play across all formats. It says this does not change Partner Program earnings or eligibility. Realtime activity in Analytics is an estimate and might not match the number on the watch page.

Export the data

From YouTube’s Advanced mode page:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. Find the report you want and click ADVANCED MODE or SEE MORE.
  4. Make any adjustments you like to the report.
  5. At the top, select Export current view and choose a file format.

Downloaded reports are limited to 500 rows. YouTube points to its Reporting API for more than 500 rows of data.

Other people’s channels

YouTube Studio’s analytics belong to the channel you sign in to. What anyone can see on another channel is public:

  • Subscribers. The count is shortened. YouTube’s subscriber count page says a channel with 1,234 subscribers shows 1.23 K, and one with 12,345 shows 12.3 K. Below 1,000 it is exact.
  • Total views and public videos. The YouTube Data API’s channel resource has a statistics object with the sum of views across all videos and formats, a subscriber count rounded down to three significant figures, a flag for whether the subscriber count is publicly visible, and the number of public videos.
  • What a channel chooses to share. Eligible Partner Program creators can switch on a setting that shares aggregated channel insights with third-party advertisers, brands and platforms. YouTube says it is off by default, and that public data such as channel name, subscriber count and views stays visible to them either way.

So you can’t open another creator’s Studio analytics. You can read their public numbers, or ask them.

YouTube numbers with Mellow Hub

Hub publishes videos to YouTube, and its cabinet shows the views and likes YouTube reports for each published video, over 7, 30 or 90 days, as lifetime counters per post. On 6 October 2026, on one account, those per-post numbers for YouTube and TikTok matched the networks’ public counters, post by post. Hub does not show Studio’s retention, traffic sources, demographics or revenue.

Hub is paid: plans start at $19 a month (Solo), after a 7-day trial with a card on file that costs nothing if you cancel before it ends, and a monthly plan's first month is 20% off. Publishing is unlimited on every plan, under a fair-use ceiling that stops automated floods (900 publications a month on Solo). One publication is one post on one account, so a post sent to five networks counts as five. There are no automatic overage charges.

Questions people also ask

How do I see YouTube analytics for other channels?

You can’t open another channel’s Studio analytics. You can see the public numbers: a rounded subscriber count, total views and public video count. A Partner Program creator can opt in to share aggregated insights with advertisers, brands and platforms, and that setting is off by default.

How do I export YouTube analytics?

In YouTube Studio, open Analytics, open a report with Advanced mode or See more, adjust it, then choose Export current view and a file format. Downloaded reports are limited to 500 rows.

Why don’t the views in Analytics match the public count?

YouTube says Realtime activity shows estimates of potential view activity and might not match the number on the watch page. It also says it may temporarily slow, freeze or change a metric while it confirms views, and discards low-quality playbacks.

Can I see YouTube analytics on my phone?

Yes. The Get started page has Android and iPhone versions, and notes that some reports may not be available on mobile. The steps above are for a computer.

Does a Short count its views differently from a long video?

Since 24 August 2026, YouTube counts a view the moment a video starts to play in every format, Shorts included. Its Reach page also lists a Stayed to watch percentage for Shorts, which measures how often viewers stayed past the first seconds.
