Mellow Hub

Why are my Instagram insights not showing?

Short answer

Most often the account isn’t public, or its type or privacy changed recently. Instagram’s Help Center says you need a public account, personal or professional, to see insights. After you switch back to private, or from a professional account to a personal one, you lose access, and you can get past insights back by switching again within 90 days. Audience demographics also need over 100 accounts reached or engaged, and a preset time frame.

Check the account first

Read on 23 October 2026, Instagram’s pages for posts, reels and stories each list the same requirement under Before you begin: a public account, personal or professional. A private account doesn’t meet it, and the account insights page adds that if you switch back to a private account, you lose access to insights.

Then check where you are looking. Instagram’s dashboards page says to go to your profile and tap Professional dashboard, or Your dashboard on a personal account, and, if it isn’t there, to tap More and go to Settings & activity. A professional account then taps Insights below For professionals; a personal account taps Your dashboard below Your insights and tools. The dashboards page adds that the tools in a dashboard may vary by account type, region and eligibility. On a computer, the account insights page says to select Dashboard in the left-hand menu.

One page disagrees. See insights for your Instagram account says insights are only available to businesses and accounts with high levels of engagement. It is a single paragraph with no steps. The pages above all say any public account, and so do we, but Instagram doesn’t say which one is current.

Where one post’s insights are

The troubleshooting page says to tap View insights under a post or reel, and to swipe up on a story and tap the insights icon. The reels page has you open the Reels tab of your profile, choose the reel and click View insights. For a story that has expired, the stories page says to open View insights on your profile and find the story under Top content based on engagement. If a post shows no View insights at all, the pages don’t explain why, and the section below says so.

What Instagram doesn’t say

  • Unverified: how long after posting a post’s insights appear. None of the pages gives a delay.
  • Unverified: why one post lacks View insights when the rest have it. No page covers it. The only limits stated are age and the public-account rule.
  • Unverified: whether reinstalling or clearing the app helps. The boost troubleshooting page, which also covers viewing insights, tells you to check that you have the latest version of the app. It says nothing more specific.
  • Unverified: insights for an account that isn’t yours. Every page we read describes your own account and the content you created.

Mellow Hub and insights

Mellow Hub does not replace Instagram’s insights, and it cannot restore ones Instagram hides. It connects a professional (Business or Creator) Instagram account. What its Results block shows is the counters each network reports for posts published to your connected accounts, such as views and, where Instagram reports it, reach, over 7, 30 or 90 days. They are lifetime counts per post, not account insights, and Hub shows no audience demographics. Whether Hub shows numbers for a post that Instagram shows no insights on has not been tested, so we don’t claim it.

Hub is one way to see how posts did; Instagram’s own dashboard is another. The first 3 posts are free, however many networks each one goes to, and need no card. After that Hub is paid: plans start at $19 a month (Solo), after a 7-day trial with a card on file that costs nothing if you cancel before it ends, and a monthly plan's first month is 20% off. Publishing is unlimited on every plan, under a fair-use ceiling that stops automated floods (900 publications a month on Solo), where one publication is one post on one account, so a post sent to five networks counts as five toward it. There are no automatic overage charges.

Questions people also ask

Why can I see insights on some posts but not others?

Instagram doesn’t explain it. The only limits it states are age and the public-account rule: posts and stories keep insights for up to two years, and reels do if posted on or after 14 May 2021 and within two years of publishing. Beyond that, no page says why one post would lack them.

Do I need a business or creator account to see Instagram insights?

No. Instagram’s pages on posts, reels, stories and account insights say a public account, personal or professional, is enough. One shorter page still says only businesses and accounts with high engagement have them. A professional account adds a Professional dashboard with extra tools.

Why can’t I see audience demographics?

Instagram says demographics need over 100 accounts reached or engaged, and a preset time frame, not a custom one. If Last 7 days shows nothing, try Last 30 days, Previous month or Last 90 days. Trends under Total followers need at least 100 followers.

Will my insights come back if I switch the account back?

Instagram says yes, within 90 days. Go public again after going private, or switch back to a professional account after moving to a personal one, and the past data returns. After 90 days the pages don’t say what is kept.
