Why is my scheduled Threads post not working?
Short answer
Threads has no help page on fixing a scheduled post, so this is only what its own pages state. The Schedule option is in the three-dot menu of the app’s composer, and scheduled posts are kept in your drafts. Threads’ Help Center says drafts open only where they were saved, in the app or on threads.com. A tool that schedules through Threads’ API meets documented limits: 250 posts in 24 hours, no more than 5 links and 500 characters.
What Threads documents for the app
Read on 11 October 2026. Threads’ own account described scheduling on 24 January 2025 (the post): open the composer, tap the three-dot menu, tap Schedule, choose a date and time and tap Schedule again. Scheduled posts appear in your drafts folder, where you can edit or delete them.
The Help Center has no page for it. Its list of Threads posting pages has none on scheduling, and none on fixing a post that didn’t go out. What it does say that bears on the problem is in the next section.
Symptom by symptom
| What you see | What Threads’ pages say |
|---|---|
| No Schedule in the composer | The announcement describes the app’s composer. The Help Center’s steps for starting a thread on threads.com list a gallery, a GIF, a topic tag and a poll, and no schedule option. No page says the website can’t schedule; none lists it. |
| The scheduled post isn’t in drafts | The drafts page says drafts can be reached only from where they were saved: one saved on threads.com only on threads.com, one saved in the app only in the app. It doesn’t mention scheduled posts, so we haven’t verified that the rule covers them. |
| It didn’t go out at the time | No Threads page we read says why a scheduled post wouldn’t publish, or what happens if the app is closed or offline at that time. |
| You can’t pick the date you want | No page gives how far ahead a post can be scheduled or how many can wait. |
If one of these is your case, the pages leave you with the check you can make yourself: look on the device or site where you scheduled it, and schedule a test post a few minutes ahead to see it go out.
If a tool scheduled it
A scheduling tool holds the post and publishes through the Threads API at the time you set; the API has no time field. Meta documents what makes a publish fail, in its posting guide and its troubleshooting page:
- Posts a day. A profile can publish up to 250 posts within 24 hours, and a carousel counts as one. The
threads_publishing_limitendpoint returns usage against that and against 1,000 replies, 100 deletes and 500 location searches, each over 86,400 seconds. - Length. Text posts are limited to 500 characters, and an emoji counts as its size in UTF-8 bytes.
- Links. Since 22 December 2025 a post with more than 5 unique links fails when the container is created, with the error
THREADS_API__LINK_LIMIT_EXCEEDED. Alink_attachmentthat differs from every URL in the text counts as one more. - Media. Images and videos must be on a public server, because Threads fetches them from the URL. A video can be up to 5 minutes and 1 GB, an image up to 8 MB.
- Timing. Meta recommends waiting about 30 seconds between creating a container and publishing it.
- Container state. A container that isn’t published within 24 hours is
EXPIRED. The status call also returnsERRORwith a reason such asFAILED_DOWNLOADING_VIDEO,FAILED_PROCESSING_VIDEO,INVALID_DURATIONorINVALID_FRAME_RATE. Meta suggests asking once a minute, for no more than 5 minutes.
Scheduling Threads posts with Mellow Hub
Hub holds the post and sends it to Threads at the time you choose, and each network it targets succeeds or fails on its own. It checks the caption against the Threads limit of 500 characters, counting an emoji as its UTF-8 size, before anything is sent. It doesn’t count links, so keep a Threads post to five or fewer yourself. The Threads account attached to your Instagram login. The steps and Threads’ own scheduler are in how to schedule Threads posts.
The first 3 posts are free, however many networks each one goes to, and need no card. After that Hub is paid: plans start at $19 a month (Solo), after a 7-day trial with a card on file that costs nothing if you cancel before it ends, and a monthly plan's first month is 20% off. Publishing is unlimited on every plan, under a fair-use ceiling that stops automated floods (900 publications a month on Solo), where one publication is one post on one account, so a post sent to five networks counts as five toward it. There are no automatic overage charges.
Questions people also ask
Why don’t I see the Schedule option on Threads?
