How do you schedule posts on Threads?
Short answer
In the Threads app, open the composer, tap the three-dot menu, tap Schedule, choose a date and time and tap Schedule again. Scheduled posts wait in your drafts, where you can edit or delete them. Threads announced this on 24 January 2025 and has no Help Center page for it that we could find, so it publishes no limits. Threads’ API has no field for a time, so scheduling tools keep the post themselves and publish it at the time you chose.
In the Threads app
Threads’ own account described the steps when scheduling arrived (the post, 24 January 2025):
- Open the composer and write your post.
- Tap the three-dot menu on the composer, then tap Schedule.
- Choose a date and time, then tap Schedule again.
Scheduled posts appear in your drafts folder, with the time they will publish. That is where you edit or delete one.
What Threads doesn’t say
The Threads section of Instagram’s Help Center lists its pages on posting, and none of them is about scheduling. Read on 10 October 2026, Threads’ own pages give no figure for how far ahead you can schedule or how many posts. The announcement describes the app’s composer, and the help page for starting a thread lists, for threads.com on a computer, a gallery, a GIF, a topic tag and a poll, and no schedule option. We found no first-party page that says the browser can schedule.
One more thing bears on where to look. Threads’ help page on saving a draft says drafts can be reached only from where they were saved: a draft saved on threads.com only on threads.com, and one saved in the app only in the app. The page doesn’t mention scheduled posts, which Threads’ announcement says sit in the drafts folder, so we haven’t verified that the rule covers them. If one seems missing, look on the device or site where you scheduled it.
What the API takes
Tools post through the Threads API, whose posting guide describes two steps: create a media container, then publish it. Its numbers, read on 10 October 2026:
- Text posts are limited to 500 characters, and an emoji counts as the number of bytes it takes in UTF-8.
- A carousel takes up to 20 images, videos or a mix.
- A profile can publish up to 250 posts in 24 hours, and a carousel counts as one.
- Meta recommends waiting about 30 seconds, on average, between creating a container and publishing it.
The guide has no field for a time. A scheduling tool therefore keeps your post and runs the two steps when the time comes.
From Instagram or Facebook
Meta Business Suite can cross-post an Instagram or Facebook post to Threads while you create it, on its desktop version only, when the Facebook Page, the Instagram profile and the Threads profile are in one business portfolio. Meta’s page doesn’t say whether a cross-post can be scheduled, and we haven’t verified it. To send Instagram posts to Threads automatically, as they are shared, see auto-posting from Instagram to Threads.
Scheduling Threads posts with Mellow Hub
Hub posts to the Threads account attached to your Instagram login. A post can be text alone or carry up to 20 images or videos. Hub checks 500 characters and counts an emoji as its UTF-8 bytes, the way Threads’ documentation describes; the Threads character limit page explains how. Where the same post goes to Instagram, Threads can have its own caption. Choose a time in Compose and Hub sends the post then.
Hub is paid: plans start at $19 a month (Solo), after a 7-day trial with a card on file that costs nothing if you cancel before it ends, and a monthly plan's first month is 20% off. Publishing is unlimited on every plan, under a fair-use ceiling that stops automated floods (900 publications a month on Solo). One publication is one post on one account, so a post sent to five networks counts as five. There are no automatic overage charges.
Questions people also ask
Where do my scheduled Threads posts go?
Into your drafts folder, according to Threads’ own announcement, with a note of the time each will publish. Open one there to edit it or delete it. Threads’ help says drafts can be reached only from where they were saved, the app or threads.com.
Can I schedule Threads posts from a computer?
Threads’ announcement describes the app’s composer, and the help steps for threads.com list no schedule option. Meta Business Suite on a computer cross-posts to Threads, and a tool such as Mellow Hub schedules from a browser.
How far ahead can you schedule a Threads post?
Threads’ pages that we read on 10 October 2026 don’t say. The announcement gives the steps and no limit.
How many posts can a tool publish to Threads in a day?
Meta’s developer documentation allows a profile 250 published posts in 24 hours, with a carousel counted as one.
Why does Threads count my emoji as more than one character?
Threads’ documentation counts an emoji as the bytes it takes in UTF-8, so a single emoji can use 4 of the 500 characters. Many counters count it as 2.
