How to make a carousel on LinkedIn
Short answer
A LinkedIn carousel is a document post. Make each slide a page of a PDF, then choose Start a post, More, Add a document, pick the file, add a title and post. LinkedIn takes PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX and PDF files up to 300 pages and 100 MB, and the document can’t be changed after posting. LinkedIn’s help doesn’t use the word carousel for it. Mellow Hub’s free carousel maker exports the PDF.
The steps in LinkedIn
From LinkedIn’s Help page on documents, read on 10 October 2026. LinkedIn calls the feature “upload and share documents”; you can post one from your homepage, a Group or a LinkedIn Page.
On a computer:
- Click Start a post in the share box at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
- Click More in the pop-up window, then the Add a document icon.
- Click Choose file and pick the document from your computer. Dropbox and Google Drive are offered too.
- Add a title to the document and click Done.
- Write the description of the post. Hashtags and @ mentions are optional.
- Click Post.
On a phone: tap Post, tap the More icon, tap Document, choose the file, add a title and tap Next, write the description and tap Post.
What LinkedIn limits
| Rule | What LinkedIn says |
|---|---|
| File types | PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX and PDF |
| Size | Not more than 100 MB |
| Length | Not more than 300 pages |
| After posting | You can edit the description or remove the post; you can’t change the document in it |
| Downloads | Members who can view your post can download your document as a PDF |
The page suggests documents on topics such as career advice, culture stories, insights and trends, event content and knowledge sharing. It also shows “Last updated: 3 years ago”, and it gives no page size and no figure for how many pages work best, so those choices are yours.
Making the pages
Each page of the file is one slide, so a carousel is a slide deck exported as a PDF. Three ways to get one:
- The free carousel maker. Write one idea per slide in Mellow Hub’s carousel maker, choose the LinkedIn document format and download a PDF of 1080 × 1350 pages. It runs in your browser, adds no watermark and uploads nothing.
- A design tool. Design the slides in Canva, PowerPoint or Keynote and export the deck as a PDF. Keep every page the same size.
- A document you already have. A slide deck or report can be posted as it is, as long as it is under the limits.
Keep one idea on a slide, a cover that says what the reader gets, and a last slide that says what to do next. These are our suggestions, not LinkedIn’s rules.
The other way: a post with several photos
LinkedIn’s Help also describes a post with up to 20 images (LinkedIn Help: share photos). It is a different thing from a document: the layout depends on the first image, two images sit side by side, and the post gives more room to the first one. Each photo can be up to 5 MB and from 3:1 to 4:5, at least 552 × 276 pixels, and LinkedIn recommends 1080 pixels wide. Photos can’t be edited after the post is published.
Use the document when the slides are meant to be read in order, and the photo post when they are separate pictures.
Posting with Mellow Hub
Mellow Hub publishes to a LinkedIn profile or a company page: up to 20 images or one video, with the commentary LinkedIn requires, up to 3,000 characters, and the same post can go to Instagram and the other networks. Hub’s LinkedIn channel takes images and video; a PDF document isn’t among them. To post a carousel as a document, post it in LinkedIn itself; to send the slides as images, export them as PNGs from the maker and attach them in Hub.
Hub is paid: plans start at $19 a month (Solo), after a 7-day trial with a card on file that costs nothing if you cancel before it ends, and a monthly plan's first month is 20% off. Publishing is unlimited on every plan, under a fair-use ceiling that stops automated floods (900 publications a month on Solo). One publication is one post on one account, so a post sent to five networks counts as five. There are no automatic overage charges.
Questions people also ask
Does LinkedIn have a carousel format?
LinkedIn’s Help pages on documents and photos don’t use the word carousel. They describe document posts, which is what people mean by a LinkedIn carousel, and posts with up to 20 photos, which LinkedIn lays out as a group of images.
What file can I use for a LinkedIn carousel?
A PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX or PDF file, not more than 100 MB and 300 pages, according to LinkedIn’s Help Center.
Can I edit a LinkedIn carousel after posting?
You can edit the description or remove the post, but you can’t change or replace the document in it. To fix a slide, delete the post and post a corrected file.
Can people download my LinkedIn carousel?
Yes. LinkedIn’s Help Center says that members who can view your post can download your document as a PDF, so put nothing in it you don’t want kept.
What size should LinkedIn carousel slides be?
LinkedIn’s help gives no page size for documents. Mellow Hub’s carousel maker uses 1080 × 1350 pages; for photos in a post LinkedIn recommends 1080 pixels wide, in a shape from 3:1 to 4:5.
