Mellow Hub

Can you schedule posts on Bluesky?

Short answer

Not in the Bluesky app, as far as Bluesky’s own pages show. The app has had Drafts since February 2026, which save a post to finish later, but we found no scheduler in it, and the only scheduling announcement we found from Bluesky, in July 2024, points to Buffer. To post at a set time you use a tool that publishes through Bluesky’s API: it keeps the post and creates it at the time you chose. Mellow Hub is one of them.

What Bluesky itself offers

What Bluesky has said that bears on scheduling, on the pages we read on 10 October 2026:

DateWhat Bluesky saidWhere
30 July 2024It partnered with Buffer, whose scheduling lets you plan Bluesky posts alongside other networksBluesky blog
26 January 2026Its note on the year ahead lists drafts among the basic posting features still missingBluesky blog
10 February 2026Version 1.116 begins rolling out, with DraftsBluesky’s account

A draft is a post saved to finish later. It is not sent at a time you set, so Drafts do not make the app a scheduler. We found no later announcement of one on Bluesky’s blog or its own account.

How a scheduler posts for you

Bluesky’s developer documentation describes a post as a record with two required fields, its text and a createdAt timestamp (creating a post). It names no field for publishing later. So a scheduling tool keeps your post on its side and creates the record, as you, at the time you chose.

Bluesky limits record writes per account: 5,000 points an hour and 35,000 a day, with 3 points for each record created. That allows at most 1,666 new records an hour and 11,666 a day, counting likes and follows as well as posts (rate limits). Bluesky says typical users and most developers won’t notice the limits; the ones it expects to hit them are prolific bots, such as accounts that follow or like everything they see.

Before you schedule

A post can have up to 300 characters, counted as graphemes, so an emoji is one. The Bluesky character limit page has the media limits, where Bluesky’s app and its documentation differ. The free character counter counts a post for Bluesky and the other networks at once.

Scheduling Bluesky posts with Mellow Hub

Hub connects Bluesky with your handle and an app password, which you create in Bluesky’s settings and can revoke there. It requires text, checks it against 300 graphemes and takes up to 4 images or one video in a post. Where the same post goes to a longer network, Bluesky can have its own shorter caption. Pick a time instead of publishing now, and Hub sends the post then.

  1. Create a Hub account.
  2. Connect your accounts in Channels. Each network’s own sign-in screen opens, so Hub never sees a password. Bluesky is the exception: Hub connects it with your handle and an app password, which you can revoke in Bluesky’s settings.
  3. Write the post in Compose, choose the channels and add the media. Where one network’s limit is shorter, give that network its own caption. The composer can shorten it for you.
  4. Hub checks every network’s rules before anything is sent: caption length, media count and type, a required title or board. It lists every problem at once, naming the network.
  5. Publish now or pick a time. Each network succeeds or fails on its own and returns its own link.

Hub is paid: plans start at $19 a month (Solo), after a 7-day trial with a card on file that costs nothing if you cancel before it ends, and a monthly plan's first month is 20% off. Publishing is unlimited on every plan, under a fair-use ceiling that stops automated floods (900 publications a month on Solo). One publication is one post on one account, so a post sent to five networks counts as five. There are no automatic overage charges.

Questions people also ask

Does Bluesky have scheduled posts?

Not in the app, on the pages we read on 10 October 2026. The only scheduling announcement we found from Bluesky is its July 2024 partnership with Buffer, and we found none for a scheduler of its own since.

Does Bluesky have drafts?

Yes. Bluesky’s own account announced Drafts with version 1.116 on 10 February 2026. A draft is saved to finish later, not sent at a set time.

How many posts can a tool publish to Bluesky in a day?

Bluesky’s documentation allows an account 35,000 points a day, and a new record costs 3, so at most 11,666 records a day, including likes and follows. A content calendar is far below that.

Can I schedule Bluesky posts together with other networks?

Yes, with a tool that connects each network through its API. Bluesky’s own 2024 announcement describes planning Bluesky posts alongside other networks in Buffer, and Mellow Hub does the same from one composer.
