MELLOW HUB · FIELD NOTES

Connect a Telegram channel to Mellow Hub

Four steps, about a minute. Add Mellow’s bot to your channel with one right, to post messages, then publish and schedule from Hub or from your AI assistant.

How it works

Mellow Hub posts to Telegram channels through its own bot, @MellowHubBot. You connect a channel inside Telegram: press Start in the bot’s chat, pick your channel, and Telegram adds the bot as an administrator with a single right, to post messages. Hub never sees your Telegram account.

  • Free to connect. Telegram charges nothing; publishing needs a Hub plan.
  • One right. The bot may post messages and nothing else.
  • Channels only. Public or private. Groups and personal chats are not supported.

Connect Telegram in Hub

Before you start

  • A Telegram channel where you are the owner, or an administrator who may post.
  • Telegram signed in on this computer or on your phone, as the account that runs the channel.
  • A Mellow Hub account. Creating one and connecting channels costs nothing.

Connect your channel

  1. Open Accounts and press Connect next to Telegram

Hub opens a card with these steps and an Open Telegram button. The link in it is yours alone and works for 20 minutes; keep the card open.

  2. Press Start in the bot’s chat

Telegram opens a chat with @MellowHubBot. Press Start at the bottom. The bot answers with one message and one button.

  3. Press “Choose a channel” and pick your channel

Telegram lists the channels you manage. Pick one and confirm: Telegram adds the bot as an administrator with one right, to post messages.

  4. Come back to Hub

The card closes by itself once the channel is connected, usually within seconds. The channel is now in Accounts, for you and for your assistant.

Your first post

Open New post, choose the channel and write. Publish now or pick a time: a scheduled post goes out within a minute of that time, with Hub closed or open.

Sending the same post to other networks? Press “Give Telegram its own text” in the composer to style the channel’s version. The other networks get your text exactly as you typed it.

Connect it from Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant

An assistant connected to Hub can start the connection: it calls connect_channel and hands you the link. The presses in Telegram stay yours, because an assistant cannot press Start for you. A Telegram channel’s ID in Hub begins with tgc_.

Use Mellow Hub. Call connect_channel with platform "telegram"
and give me the link. When I say I'm done, call list_channels
with refresh: true and tell me my Telegram channel's ID.
Do not create any post.

What the bot can and cannot do

It can

  • Post what you publish from Hub, or what your assistant publishes within the limits you gave it.
  • Post without a notification sound, when a post asks for that.
  • Leave the channel when you disconnect it in Hub and no other profile uses it.

It cannot

  • Edit or delete messages, including its own posts.
  • Add members or administrators, or change the channel’s name and picture.
  • Read your chats. Hub reads only your Start and the channel you pick.

You can take the bot out at any time: in the channel, open Administrators and remove @MellowHubBot. The channel leaves your accounts at once, and a post due while the bot is out fails with a note saying why. Add the bot back with the right to post and the channel returns, with its scheduled posts still on it.

What a Telegram post can carry

Hub checks every post against these rules before anything is sent, the same rules your assistant reads.

TextUp to 4,096 characters, or none at all.
Under a photo or videoUp to 1,024 characters. Longer text follows the media as a message of its own.
MediaUp to 10 photos or videos in one album, all of one kind.
VideoMP4, up to 50 MB. Telegram names no length.
PhotoUp to 10 MB.
PaceTelegram sets no number of posts a day. It asks a bot for no more than one message a second in one chat.

A bot is not told how many people saw a channel post, so Hub shows no views or reach for Telegram.

Formatting

Type the marks you already know. Hub turns them into Telegram’s own styles and counts the text without them.

You typeThe channel shows
**Mellow**Mellow bold
__Mellow__Mellow italic
~~Mellow~~Mellow struck through
||Mellow||Mellow hidden until tapped
`Mellow`Mellow monospace
[words](https://www.mellow.world)words a link
> MellowMellow a quote

A mark with no partner stays as typed, and a backslash before a mark keeps it. Text without marks goes out exactly as written.

If something goes wrong

My channel is not in the list

Telegram lists channels only, not groups, and only those where you are the owner or an administrator who may post. Ask the owner to connect it, or create the channel in Telegram first.

The card says the link has run out

A link works for 20 minutes. Press Start again in the card to get a new one; the old one stops working.

The bot says it is not an administrator yet

The bot was added without the right to post. In the channel, open Administrators, give @MellowHubBot the right to post messages, and press the bot’s button again.

A post failed because a file was too large

A bot may send videos of up to 50 MB and photos of up to 10 MB. Compress the file or send it to the other networks alone.

A post says Telegram did not confirm it

Hub sent it and never heard back, so it does not send it again on its own. Check the channel first: if the post is there, nothing is missing.

Questions

Does connecting Telegram cost anything?

Connecting a channel costs nothing, and Telegram charges nothing for its bots. Publishing needs a Hub plan, where each destination of a post counts once.

Does Mellow see my Telegram account?

No. The connection happens inside Telegram. Hub learns which channel you picked and that you manage it, and the bot posts there with the one right Telegram gave it.

Can Hub post to a Telegram group or to my personal chat?

Not yet. Hub posts to channels, public or private.

Can I connect several channels?

Yes. Connect each one the same way; they appear in Accounts side by side, and a post can go to several at once.

Will Hub show views for my Telegram posts?

No. Telegram does not tell bots how many people saw a channel post, so Hub shows no numbers it does not have.
