How do I make a photo collage for a post?

Put 2 to 6 photos into one picture of the post’s shape. This maker lays them out edge to edge or with a gap, cuts each photo to its place from the middle unless you move it, and saves one JPG at 4:5 (1080 × 1350), 1:1 (1080 × 1080), 9:16 (1080 × 1920), 16:9 (1920 × 1080). The first photo takes the large place where a layout has one.

The layouts, by number of photos

PhotosLayouts
2Side by side; One above the other
3One large, two beside; One large, two below; Three columns; Three rows
4Two by two; One large, three beside; One large, three below
5Two over three; Three over two; Two beside three
6Three across, two down; Two across, three down; One, two, three

Every layout works in each of the four shapes. With one photo there is nothing to lay out; with more than 6 the places get too small to read on a phone, which is what a carousel is for.

Making a collage that reads

  • Lead with the strongest photo. Put it first, in a layout with one large place.
  • Mind what the place cuts. A tall photo in a wide place loses its top and bottom: tap it and slide what is kept.
  • A thin gap separates; no gap joins. Photos of one scene sit well edge to edge, unrelated ones want a gap.

Questions

How do I put several photos into one picture?

Choose 2 to 6 photos, then a shape and a layout. Each photo fills its place; tap one to move what is kept of it, and use the arrows to change which photo goes where. Then save the collage as one JPG.

What size is the collage?

One of four: 4:5 (1080 × 1350), 1:1 (1080 × 1080), 9:16 (1080 × 1920), 16:9 (1920 × 1080). They are plain post shapes; the size each network asks for is in the image sizes answer linked on this page.

Which photo goes in the large place?

The first one. The photos take their places in the order shown under the collage, and in a layout with one large place that place comes first. Move a photo to the front with the arrows to make it the large one.

A collage or a carousel?

A collage is one picture with several photos in it, seen at a glance. A carousel is several pictures a person swipes through; Instagram takes up to 20 in one post from its app. To keep every photo whole and full size, make a carousel instead.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The photos stay in this page and the collage is drawn in your browser; the file is made on your own device.

One picture made; now post it everywhere at once

Mellow Hub takes the collage from here into one post and sends it to the networks you connect, now or at a time you choose, checking each network’s rules first. Would the photos be better swiped one by one? The carousel photo resizer makes them one size for a carousel.
