How do I turn a screenshot into a post?

Set it whole on a background that has the post’s shape. A review, a message or a chart is rarely the shape a feed wants: Instagram keeps a photo as it is between 1.91:1 and 3:4 and crops anything else. This maker puts the screenshot in the middle of a 4:5, 1:1, 9:16 or 16:9 picture, leaves space around it, rounds its corners and saves a JPG. Nothing of the screenshot is cut.

How large the screenshot comes out

PostPixelsA 1179 × 2556 screenshot is shown at
4:51080 × 1350543 × 1178
1:11080 × 1080419 × 908
9:161080 × 1920806 × 1748
16:91920 × 1080419 × 908

The last column is arithmetic, with 8% of the post’s shorter side left around the screenshot. A tall screenshot fills most of a 9:16 post and stands small on a 16:9 one. Instagram’s range of shapes is from Instagram Help Center: Image resolution of photos you share on Instagram, read on 1 October 2026.

Before you post somebody else’s words

  • Hide what is private. A name, a photo or a number in a message is the other person’s: cover it unless they agreed.
  • Leave more room in a story. Instagram gives no safe zone for a story you post yourself; Meta’s figures for ads are in the Instagram Story size answer.
  • Pick a ground that does not fight. A light screenshot stands out on a dark or coloured ground, and a dark one on a light ground.

Questions

How do I post a screenshot without it being cropped?

Put it whole on a background of the post’s shape. Instagram keeps a photo as it is when its shape is between 1.91:1 and 3:4 and crops anything else, and a screenshot from a phone is taller than that. This maker sets the screenshot inside a 4:5, 1:1, 9:16 or 16:9 picture with space around it, so nothing is cut.

What can I put behind the screenshot?

A flat colour, white, cream, black, blue or lime, any colour of your own, or the screenshot itself enlarged and blurred. Rounded corners and a soft shadow lift it off the ground; both can be turned off.

Will the text in the screenshot stay sharp?

It stays as sharp as the screenshot is. A tall screenshot is made smaller to fit, which keeps it crisp. A small one is enlarged, and the maker says by how much when that is more than a few percent: leave more space around it, or take a larger screenshot.

Which shape should I choose?

4:5 for a feed post, 1:1 where a square reads best, 9:16 for a story or a vertical video’s frame, 16:9 for a wide post or a slide. The sizes each network asks for are in the answers linked on this page.

Is my screenshot uploaded?

No. The screenshot stays in this page and the post is drawn in your browser; the file is made on your own device.

A post made of it; now send it everywhere at once

Mellow Hub takes the picture from here into one post and sends it to the networks you connect, now or at a time you choose, checking each network’s rules first. Is there a name or a number in the screenshot that should not be seen? Hide it first with the photo blur tool.
